Counselling for life’s turning points.

Supporting individuals and couples through change, growth, and meaningful transitions.

Debra Johnsen, MA, RCC

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with a master’s degree in counselling from City University and an undergraduate degree in Child and Youth Care from the University of Victoria. With over 25 years of experience in mental health, substance use, and crisis response, I have worked with children, youth, and adults across a wide range of life experiences, including trauma, grief, relationship challenges, parenting transitions, and significant life changes.

Currently, my practice focuses on supporting adults navigating life transitions such as relationship changes, separation and divorce, anxiety, burnout, identity shifts, caregiving stress, and reproductive and midlife transitions, including pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, and menopause.

Approach

I offer a collaborative, trauma-informed approach to counselling.

Therapy is a space to slow down, make sense of what you’re experiencing, and move forward at your own pace. I believe meaningful change happens within a safe, trusting, and respectful therapeutic relationship. I bring a warm, steady, and non-judgmental presence to our sessions, believing that you are the expert in your own life. I draw from a range of evidence-informed approaches, tailoring therapy to your unique needs, strengths, values, and goals.
